If you have WINZIP / WINRAR installed on your machine ….

rename the file if required if not the file will the called the same but with a .zip.

Then all you will need to do is attach the .zip into the email and send it.

Be warned that most mail systems have restrictions on size etc and also some restrict what can be sent. if the file .zip) is below 1Mb you should be OK – up to 10Mb you will probably get through. Above this you might get blocked or denied.

Since this is an 'AS400'-thread, I assume your task is to move a file from one AS400 to another AS400 by sending it as an attachment to an email. If this is the case, you may use ZipSeries, which is a free product (ie no license fees). Look at DanF

Is your system already configured to send e-mail to internet addresses? If it isn't configured for SMTP e-mail, then there is no command that you can use. Does your system have Java installed? Does it have QShell or PASE installed? If it doesn't have those, there is no command that can create a .ZIP file. If your system is configured to send SMTP e-mail, then you can probably use the command that you usually use for e-mail. It might be the SNDDST command; but we have no way to know if your system can use it -- it can be difficult to get SNDDST to handle attachments such as .ZIP files. Or it might be a different command if you have an unknown e-mail application that we don't know about installed. With Java and either QShell or PASE, you can use the Java jar utility to create .ZIP files. Tom
