Hi I am sharing a drive on another computer and everytime I try to access the shared drive from my machine I get the following error. (this only happens on the folder "program files") All other files appear to work correctly. computernamecdriveprogram files is not accessiable. you may not have perisiion to use this network resource. Some back round All machines are xp in the same workgroup (no domain) The only folder I get this message on is ?program files? all other appear to work ok I have turned off simple file sharing and am able to give all users full access ?progam files? No luck I have another xp box in the same workgroup and no problem looking into the program folder. I’m thinking domain permissions, so it might be incorrect, but have you set both sharing permissions AND security permissions on that folder? Also, are your users in the ‘power users’ group on the machine you’re trying to access? Not sure if that’ll solve it, but it’s a start.

    Are the systems running WinXP Service Pack 2? If SP2 is installed, open an MMC and load the local group policy configurator. Set the following: Group Policy =>Local =>Computer Configuration =>Administrative Templates =>Network =>Network Configuration =>Windows Firewall =>Domain Policy: Remote Admin Exception: Enabled Remote Desktop Exception: Enabled Even if the SP2 firewall is disabled, these two settings may restrict access to certain areas of the system. Also - make sure that the user(s) or group(s) attempting to access the %program files% directory are set up as account holders on the target systems...
