I work in the IT department for a large scale organization. For the past several years, we have created a large scale Windows 7 image for everyone's computers. If we get a new computer, we just load it from our backup. But now, we found that several employees are installing it on a USB drive and putting it on their home computers. That issue is fixed how can we secure the image so it doesn't happen again? What encryption would work?

It sounds like you just need to put it on a network file share that is inaccessible to other users. In other words, lock it down so that only network admins have access. Otherwise, you could put it in an encrypted zip format with a password, out in the cloud on a filesharing service, or something like that.

If they want it they will get it. You could use any one of a number of screen capture applications to save the image. Then just mail it to yourself. Is this a trademarked image? You could also disable the USB ports on their computers but that may no be feasible if required to do their job.
