My micro SD card is undetectable by all computers in my household.  It can be detected in my DLSR camera but when I try to format it i get an error stating "Cannot format, change card".  Another weird thing that happens is when I plug it into my small camera the one I used to record the footage on, it turns the camera off completely and will not turn back on as long as the card remains in the camera.   Is my card toast for good or is there a possible solution.  Thanks

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

When using the SD card, are you using an adapter for it? It may be possible that the adapter is bad and not the card itself. If you are using the card with no adapter, then it may be damaged. This can happen like when removing it while a device is still on.

Probably there is problem in your SD Card. Which OS is there that you have tried? Frist of all, if the DLSR camera detects the card, connect the camera with cable & take backups.

A microSD/SD adaptor would be a likely problem source if used. Could be as simple as lint/dirt interfering with internal adaptor contacts. But more detail is needed.

Otherwise, if multiple devices can't even see the card, it's likely failed.

Is the SD card under warranty? If the SD card is under warranty, you can ask the vendor for more help.

Also open Disk Management, and check if there are all drives shown including the SD Card. If yes, try to format this one only. Keep in mind, take all necessary backups of your SD card.

Of course, backups will be a problem for any device that is either not detected or at best shows as invalid.
