I have a Windows 2000 domain with all windows xp clients...I have set up Group Policy Objects to specify screensaver properties. The screensaver timeout GPO is working fine, but the screensaver password protect never works..I have done some research on this and it seems to be a common problem, but no one has an answer..Does Anyone know how this can be fixed. I have all the latest service packs and updates for both OS. Thanks in advance..

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The registry keys you want to affect are below (you can save the text below the line as a .reg file and double-click it to test). This will mandate a locked screen when active, a 15 minute timeout, the screensaver used, and hide the screensaver tab so users cannot change it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop]
“ScreenSaverIsSecure”=”1”
“ScreenSaveTimeOut”=”900”
“ScreenSaveActive”=”1”
“SCRNSAVE.EXE”=”scrnsave.scr”

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem]
“NoDispScrSavPage”=dword:00000001
