Screen stays on after locking Windows 10 laptop

I've begun to notice that whenever I lock my Windows 10 laptop, the screen stays on the entire time. Isn't it supposed to go off? Any way I can make it go off whenever I lock it? Thanks so much

    How do you mean "lock" the laptop? Are you talking about staying on and showing the lock (login) screen or are you referring to putting it in standby mode? Many laptops have a BIOS setting that can control this but also a Windows power options setting that will tell the screen the turnoff after a certain period of time.     Yes, how did you lock the system either by windows built-in mechanism/running a batch Or through power shell script? It may possible that, when you locked (whatever way you applied) the display time is probably a cause for the same issue. Also you can check thoroughly the windows power plan and if necessary, you can change the settings to take effect.
