I was tasked with getting a list of screens we are still using. Now they want me to get samples screens for all of those screens. Of course i do not want to manually do that. Is there an API, Command, or something i can use to generate these sample screens? Hopefully as an image or PDF on the IFS.

If I understand the request. I can't think of a way to automate this process. A lot depends on exactly how much detail they are looking for. For an example we have around 30 different menus, each menu may have 20 to 30 options. Each option calls a program and that program can have numerous screens based on the F function  keys taken.  So there can easily be hundreds of screens, all different. I can't see how this could be automated to print sample screens with data. You might be able to go into each screen using SDA and print it with the X & O data but that would still be a manual process as far as I remember. I have not used SDA in years.

The key here might be that they asked for a sample (not all screens). You could print 1 menu, 1 or 2 work-with screens, 1-2 simple maintenance screens, etc. All representative of their respective style of screen, then maybe go into more detail for the handful of complex screens (like order entry).
We have just on 1000 screens, about half of them are work-with's, and a quarter are maintenance's. But I recon you could get the concept across with 1-2 representative samples of each type.
That is unless the manager that asked for the samples is 100% idiot rather than just a normal idiot...

Are all screens 24x80? Or do you also use 27x132 screens? Some automation might be possible.

Nearly full automation is possible, but that implies some significant programming. It might be on the server and/or on the client system.

The STRCPYSCN command can form the basis for the simplest automation.
