Scanning will more than likely take place at the MFP itself and if it is networked, you could possibly save the scanned image to a network file that the MFP can see. I dont believe it will be possible to scan from a pc connected to a networked MFP, you can print from this config but again not sure scanning can be done from pc without physically going to scanner. I hope this does not confuse you and helps you.
I suspect that you do not have all the driver files installed to your local machine to be able to scan from your MFP. When you open the MFP, to use it, then it should display the scanner utilities in the tool box for the MFP. If it does not, then not everything was installed. This may have been by choice of your Network Admin and the people that are responsible for the printer. If it was not, then you will have to get and install the complete driver file to gain access to all the utilities that the device has.
