You may not be happy with the results of saving PFs and LFs on separate tapes. The downside is much greater than the upside.
Keep in mind that unless you save the LFs with Save Access Path of *Yes, none of the access path data will be saved. This results in a very small object for each LF. It is quite efficient when saving objects. You pay the price when the object is restored, at which time the access path will be rebuilt. In our case, we do a lot more saving than restoring so we prefer the quicker saves.
My intention is not to save PF and LF seperately....
In case if i need to save LF alone? what parameters i need to take care... i don't see any Object Type as *LF...or atleast *PF
If the objects already exist on the system, you do not need to resrore the LF,
Just restore the PF and the LF will automatically take carte of itself sinve it is a view over the PF.
If i want to make sure PF are restore prior to restore LF. What action i need to take care ?
At i 6.1 or later, it's not necessary to restore PFs before LFs. Review the RSTOBJ DFRID() parameter. And read through Restoring logical files to get some background.
