I reset my computer and now all my documents are saved in Wordpad and I don't have the option of converting them to back to Microsoft word. How can I do this?

You may have just corrupted the default application for opening the file. Right click on a file, select properties and see what program the “OPENS WITH” is pointing to. If it’s Wordpad change it back to Word and you should be all set.

Wordpad itself offers to save a file in MS word format (docx/doc). Open file on Wordpad and clock Save As from File menu then click Save as Type and select the MS word format and save it. Or you can just copy the contents of the file after opening in Wordpad and paste it on Word. Then save as in word format.

Moreover, check if the file(s) is/are corrupted or damaged. In that case, you may see junk words/characters and that might be a really annoying. For this reason (if any) you can try to open file (using Open With by right click on the file) in Word and can run Repair which is a built-in tool of MS Office.
