An RFID transceiver creates a two-way communication using RFID tags. These tags could be used in one of three types of RFID systems. Tags have their own transmitter and power source in active RFID systems. There are two main types of active tags. A radio signal from a reader wakes up a transponder. Transponders respond by sending a signal back to the reader. Beacons emit signals at preset intervals. Reader antennas receive each beacon’s signal. The reader and antenna send a radio signal to the tag in a passive RFID system. Passive RFID systems operate in one of three frequencies. These are low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF) or ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio bands.
