SanDisk card needs to be reformatted

I just finished filming a video yesterday. Today I went to plug it into my Mac and it says the file cannot be read and needs to be reformatted. I put it into my camera again and it says the same as the computer. My question is, is there any way possible to get my video footage off the memory card before reformatting? I spent all day filming and it's devastating to lose it all.

Software/Hardware used:
camera, sandisk, canon eos-1d, memory card

If possible, other than Mac, you can insert the same in Windows/Linux system and observe what happens.

Is this the first time it's happened? It could be that the devices use a different file structure and that caused the issue. What bothers me is that you say even after putting it back in the camera, that same camera can no longer read it?

If it is windows, virus us an issue behind this problem. Also check for viruses.
