I think I may have stumbled across the answer myself. Somewhere I got, apparently incorrect, info that OSQL would not run on SQL Server 2008, so I switched to SQLCMD, which is worthless. Switched back to OSQL and it works fine.

    That's fortunate for you because { RUNRMTCMD plus SQLCMD plus iSeries } doesn't make much sense without a lot more explanation. And it makes less sense to say that OSQL is a reasonable workaround. -- Tom
