There are many Change Management tools available that will give you everything that you need. The most common is Hawkeye Pathfinder,  HelpSystems also has a product call ABSTRACT.  TURNOVER Is another one. I have used all 3 of these and would recommend them all. There are many more.

There are no "tools" that will tell you all programs that use a field in a file. Some can find most such programs, but they can be expensive.

Tools to find programs that call a given program are either also expensive or can be created with just DSPPGMREF and a query.

What is your budget for this?

I believe, Hawkeye was the Pathfinder in James Fenimore Cooper's books. Anyway Pathfinder and Hawkeye are the same product. Good product.

If money is an issue, you could always write some code to do it.Try scanning source code and substring the column positions or for op-codes and build a table(s) of field names and files, data areas associated with that program. The you could query these tables and find the information...IT would take some time and it may not be 100% but it may help in the short term.
You could also add additional references by using the DSPPGMREF and other commands for additional data..

    Another "free" option is ...

    STRPDM (e.g., on QCLSRC)

Option 25   and F13 to repeat for all members

Type the name of the called program you want to research
