Should I connect a router or layer 3 switch to my MPLS network?

Suppose I have to dimension the networking architecture of a company that has several branches and each branch communicates with the others through a MPLS network. The MPLS network is provided by a service provider. At the edge of the branches, should I connect a router or a layer 3 switch? In which things should I base the selection?
Thanks in advance.

at the end of the edge of the branch there is a customer edge router which is connected to the provider edge router….layer 3 switch can act as a high speed router but you cant use it for WAN
