I was sent a Microsoft Word file by a friend. I opened it up and say a grammar error with a blue line under it. It really wasn't an error so I ignored it and the line went away. However, when I opened the document the next day, the blue line returned. How can I remove that entirely?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.
By default it will check spelling and grammar each time the document is opened. You can turn it off in the document by following these steps
What you need to do is tell Word not to spell check a portion of text. To do that:
  • Select the text
  • Go to Tools > Language
  • Choose a language
  • Place a checkmark on Do not check spelling or grammar
  • save the document to retain the settings
