After a year of trying out countless freeware apss, needless to say my registry is quite clogged. How do I remove dead entries? Is there a program anyone can recomend?

Hi Gimpster123,
I’m not to sure about Windows vista, (I don’t use vista OS- Vista is EVIL!!!!!!!!), but in previous versions of Microsoft OS’s , what you need to do is click on the start button -> RUN -> then type regedit->
and hit enter. This will bring you into the actual registry–In other words, BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL. The regedit is a very powerful tool, but if you delete the wrong entry, you can crash, or totally disable the entire Operating System, and CPU. Now, words of warning out of the way, if you’ve used the add/remove programs function of windows to remove these freeware programs from your system, you more than likely still have registry entries for them in your system. What you need to do is use the edit dropdown menu at the top of the regedit window, and click on find. Then type in the name of the program (only one at a time), that was installed. If it’s still in the registry, the tree view will show you the location, and the main window will show you the REG_DWORD, and most likely the REG_SIZE. Delete both of these for the program you wish to remove. You will have a pop-up warning displayed on the screen. Click through it .Go back to the edit and click on “find next” until nothing else comes up. If another entry for the program you’re tring to delet comes up, delete that to,BUT MAKE SURE IT’S FOR THE SAME PROGRAM, because after you delete all the entries for that program, the tree view will jump up to the next higher program in the tree veiw. One thing to remember when using the regedit is that once something is deleted, there is absolutely NO way to get it back. That’s why extreme caution should be used when using the regedit function. Use caution but don’t be afraid of it. Repeat this for each program you want to clean out. I think you’ll find that after you do this, youre computer will also speed up. I hope this helps you.
