It all depends on how your subsystems and JOBQ’s are set up. Do a WRKSBSD and take option 1 to see if maxjobs is set to *NOMAX. Then check to see if the JOBQ is single threaded or can have multiple jobs active at the same time (option 6).  Depending on what the job does, it may pose problems like record locks if run concurrently or if update and deletions are being done, throw your files out of sync.

If you are looking to run some simple reporting jobs you may be fine. Just be aware of the possible issues if the data is changing in the job.

It's not clear what you mean, but it seems that you want the two copies of the job to run at the same time. By looking at the various subsystems running in your system, you should see many examples of multiple copies of jobs of almost all types running concurrently.

The first requirement is that the subsystem MAXJOBS() parameter must be set to a value greater than "1". After that, the subsystem needs a *JOBQ attached to it with a job queue entry set for MAXACT() greater than "1" and with the various MAXPTYn() values set accordingly. You could also submit the jobs to two (or more) different single-threaded job queues as long as they're both (or all) attached to the same subsystem.

Of course, a more fundamental requirement is that the job must not create long-lasting *EXCL locks nor do anything else that would cause conflicts for multiple concurrent copies.

I usually set the QPGMR *JOBQ to allow at least four compiles at a time. Not copies of the same job, but all of the concepts apply.
