Recovering lost WhatsApp conversations

So I had a nexus 5x (android) and I was using Whatsapp. A lot. A couple of days ago my phone crashed and I can't make it start, eventually I switched it for an iPhone 6plus, when I downloaded Whatsapp again I noticed that all my past conversations were completely gone. I didn't back my conversations on my iCloud because I didn't have an iPhone device at that time.
I don't know how or if possible to recover the messages but I know that Whatsapp backed up my messages (it auto backed it every night at 2:00 am) but I don't know how to access the backed conversations. The only way whatsapp would let me recover conversations is via iCloud but i didn't have an iPhone so its empty. Can I recover my lost conversations? Should I run it on another android device? Hope someone would be able to help me.
Thanks,
ori

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Technically, Android device store data on Google drive whereas Iphone stores it on iCloud. So, the old conversations can’t be backed up on your iphone. However, a third-party tool might help you.

Basically on Android system, Whatsapp data is stored in Google Drive. The technics which are used by Google Drive are not compatible with iPhone. The iOS system which means that there are no easy ways to restore WhatsApp messages from Google Drive to iPhone directly. For getting the data you can use a third party tool and do the job, if you don't have another Android phone.

Keep in mind, almost all third party tools are costly. There are no free solutions to recover the same. You can try and use for demo purpose and then if you are satisfied you can go for that.
