Read all records – input subfile

560 pts.
I am using input subfile technique to create the save file with the objects entered in the screen. Here first I'm displaying the empty screen to enter objects. Validating the objects entered to the screen. When invalid objects entered I need to throw the error to correct it. Here when I enter valid objects without correcting invalid object, it is processing. This should not happen. I hope sflnxtchg is not helpful. While loading the empty subfile, I'm just making SFLINZ indicator on, not incrementing RRN for input subfile. Suggest me your thought on this.

·         These two keyword is used to initialize a subfile which is done in case we want to make a data entry screen.

·         After the entry is made to be the subfile then only it becomes active, before that it will be inactive. This is done by SFLRNA.

·         By using SFLINZ, the fields in each subfile record are initialized like as below:

    As I understand it, you want to

    1 Validate all entries

    2 if all entries are valid then do processing

    Maybe something like this?

    valid = *off

    Exfmt MyFmt

    Dow not *in03 and not valid

    Valid = *off

    Exsr Validate

    If Valid

    Exsr ProcessReq

    Exfmt MyFmt

    Based on your initial description I'm guessing that you are using READC (or its equivalent in other languages) to read the initial set of objects to be saved. (Left alone) the READC will read subfile entries that have been modified by the user. Your program is validating the entries and then updating the invalid entries with some indication to the user of what's wrong with them. If the user modifies the entry then you see it again on the next READC processing loop of the subfile. If the user does NOT modify the entry then you are not seeing it on the next READC processing loop of the subfile This is to be expected.

    What you need to do is when you update the entry in error is activate the DDS keyword SFLNXTCHG for the entry in error.

    This is all documented (what you're seeing and what you're wanting) in the Information Center discussion of SFLNXTCHG.
