Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The HP Server should have come with a SmartStart CD/DVD that you can boot the server off of and configure the RAID controller. If it didn’t, you can download it from the HP support site.

(Thanks Jmm-irl for reminding me of the SmartStart name. I couldn’t remember it for the life of me.)

on boot up hit F8 at the ORCA prompt, this starts ORCA (Onboard Raid Configuration Adminstration), its a simple tool that allows you to create basic raid arrays. if you have clean disks and want a raid 5 just insert all you disks and boot ,ORCA will automatically place disks into an array, if two disks are present it will put them in a raid 1 if more than 2 disks then a raid 5.

smartstart is downloadable from HP version 8.15 now and comes with array configuration utility (ACU) for more complex arrays and setting such as Selective storage presentation, changing block sizing etc.

hope this helps

Hi there, during the post screen I think there is an option to hit F10 to enter the RAID configuration array where you can add disks to a raid set. I would still suggest that you look for the SmartStart CD as mentioned by MrDenny you get a nice graphical representation of your arrays and disks. Regards Jay

Reggie06 is asking about first start and it's a good question because it's tricky to find RAID array settings and i spend half of day to find it on my ProLiant ML110. ACU on SmartStart CD doesn't see Raid controller at all as any other Linux system until you enable it in BIOS (called "ROM-Based Setup Utility") Here is what you do: on POST screen choose "ROM-Based Setup Utility" -> go to Advanced Options -> SATA Controller Options -> Embedded SATA Configuration then you will see warning "if you continue all people on the earth will die and galaxy gonna be in danger... =) " PRESS ENTER =D -> Enable SATA RAID Support. -> Reboot That's it! Now you will see RAID Smart Array utility options on POST screen and also you can configure RAID via ACU on SmartStart CD. here are some links that could help for other products:
