How does public cloud adoption change the existing security protection model? Do organizations need less on-premise security as workloads shift to the public cloud? Also, do we need different tools to protect workloads in public clouds than we do on-premise (i.e. are the virtual form factors of firewalls used on-premise effective at protecting workloads in Amazon/Azure, etc)?

This sounds like a homework question, and, if you show us some effort in answering it, we could help you. But, to just simple ask for an answer, sorry, we don't do homework. Try reading the chapters in your book.

Thanks. Which books or blogs would you suggest I look at to find these answers? I've read many white papers, but almost all are written by vendors so they aren't objective. I also don't know any any books that hit specifically on this topic.. believe a practitioner with experience using on-prem and cloud solutions would know it best. Do you know any blogs I can follow? Thanks!

I don't think anything changes. Internal network environments will remain as-is for the foreseeable future which, will no doubt, require increased security given all the risks on the average network.
