Lost contacts in Outlook Express

5 pts.
Microsoft Outlook Express
I have lost all my contacts in my address book. Also when I go to send a new mail message, I get an error message that says outlook express is configured improperly and needs to be reinstalled. How do I go about doing this? I am using Windows XP Home. I also get an error message that says my address book is corrupt and cant be used. I have been getting klez virus in emails like crazy but Norton says it keeps quarantining them. Could I have deleted some files that I needed when getting rid of the quarantined files?

it explains how to reinstall OE only and it does require some registry work. You can handle it just navigate to the key explained in the articles. Go to Start\run and type in Regedit and hit enter. When the editor opens in the left pane you will see the major keys with plus signs in front. Click the plus signs as shown below.

+Active Setup
+Installed Components

After you click the last plus sign on the CLSID above, (long string of numbers) make sure the CLSID is an exact match. Look in the right pane for the DWord “IsInstalled” Right click the “IsInstalled” DWord in right pane and select Modify. Change the value from 1 to 0 <—–Zero. Click the Registry tab up top and select exit. Now follow the rest of the directions Number 5.
And download demo software Address Book Repair Toolbox. It was solution in my similar problem. Here: http://www.addressbook.repairtoolbox.com/
