Preferable network scenario for layer 3 switch over router

I hav3e learned that both layer 3 switch and router share some common feature is routing. But which network scenario is more preferable to use a Layer 3 switch compared to a router, based on real life example with diagram for a better understanding. Thanks!

Routers were devices connected the LAN to the WAN and switches were just LAN devices and you may add a Layer 3 Switch to the LAN if you had some VLANS and didn’t want to use a router.Layer 3 Switch is really like a High-Speed Router without the WAN connectivity.
