Peak voltage for DSL signal levels

I had a shorted phone line at the lightening protector where the phone pair enters the house, but my internet connection still worked. How does the DSL signal continue to work uninterruptedly on a shorted pair? What are the peak voltage levels of the DSL signals. I'm about 2.5Km from the central office.  TIA, Lowell

Much of that is basic research better suited for Google searches. As for DSL, first thing you'll need to provide is the type of DSL. ADSL? SDSL? HDSL? DSL Lite? CDSL? IDSL? At least one type DSL only requires a single wire.

But mostly we'd need access to your circuitry to know what happened.
