Our office purchased a new computer with Windows 7 and Office 2007. When the system is started up Outlook can send/receive emails without issue. However, if Outlook is closed it cannot be reopened unless the system is rebooted. Upon rebooting a message comes up saying that Outlook was not shutdown properly and gives the option to start Outlook in safe mode to correct the problem. However, we do not know what the problem is.

Make sure the outlook.exe process is not there in task manager once Ol is closed.
can you also share the contecnts of the following key
and the same key under HKey current user
OL wants all related processes suspended before successfully closing ,most likely a plugin does not allow OL to close

    I do not know how to share the contents of keys. I have been disabling COM addins but the problem is not resolved yet. I have discovered that the problem only occurs after closing OL after sending an email with an attachment. Also, the exact error message that appears after rebooting is: "Outlook failed to start correctly last time. Starting Outlook in Safe Mode will help you correct or isolate astartup problem in order to successfully start the program. Some functionality may be disabled in this mode. Do you want to start Outlook in safe mode?"

    What I meant was that I don't know how to view the contents of keys. However, the office exchange server had some updates completed over the weekend and the issue with outlook appears to be corrected. Thanks to everyone who took the time to read and respond to my questions regarding this issue. If it occurs again I will post again.
