I use Google Chrome on Ubuntu. A friend of mine sent me a PDF so when I clicked on it, it opened up in a new tab (preview) and that worked fine. But when I tried to save it, it re-downloads the PDF and it takes a long time so here's my question: Could I directly save the file when I'm in preview mode in Chrome? Hopefully that makes sense. Thank you!

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Try right clicking the PDF image and select SAVE AS instead of clicking the download button.

If understood correctly, you wanted to open PDF in Chrome as preview mode as well as download the same. For this purpose you can use Adobe Acrobat Chrome extension and this can help to do the job. When PDF opens on Adobe, you can download the same from Adobe directly. Here is an article.
