Our HTML page has a link to a PDF file that opens in Adobe Reader. But we need it to open in a new tab (on that same window). How can we do that?

if using IE, then Microsoft says

Make sure that the Adobe PDF browser add-on, AdobePDF.dll, is enabled.
Open Internet Explorer.
Select Tools > Internet Options.
Click the Programs tab.
Click the Manage Add-ons button.
Set the Show menu to "Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer."
Find and select Adobe PDF Reader.
Find and select Adobe PDF Reader and click OK.
Do let us know about the results. We will be happy to assist you further.

You can try with target attribute in HTML. Like target = "_blank", which helps to open file in a new tab. But sometimes it depends on browser's settings.

If not using IE, what browser are you using? There are some subtle differences in the way things are handled.
