We are thinking of using the *NOCMTBDY on the SAVACTWAIT parm in SAVLIB. We are using the native SAVLIB not BRMS. Besides losing pending transactions, are there any other drawbacks?

You shouldn't "lose" many transactions as long as you save/restore appropriate receivers and roll the transactions forward. For general additional considerations, see the Save-while-active restrictions topic in the Information Center.

I agree with Raven if you are cautious you should not lose much if  anything. Document each step of your save/restore procedure so you don't forget a step. Think of it as your disaster recovery.
