This is more of a general observation question but I need to ask it anyways. I just installed the latest version of Firefox but it's only a 32-bit. My machine is a 64-bit. Why does it do that?

Probably you downloaded 32-bit of Firefox browser. While 32 bit can run/install on 64-bit system. The latest version is 54.0.1 64-bit is available. You can uninstall 32-bit FF (before of that, take backup of bookmarks/settings etc.) and can download/install 64-bit.
