Hello, my Name is Akshay and I am doing my masters in Electrical engineering from Colorado State university. My specialization is in the field of networking. I have taken certain courses like internet engineering, computer security and also have CCNA and have some programming skills in Python, C++. I graduate this year, May 2016. So can you advise me on what sort of networking jobs can I apply for? Which also has a good future scope too? And also could you tell me what all additional skills can I master in order to be competitive in job market?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to ITKE, akshay04! First off, I would recommend that you should continue with networking certifications (CCNP, CCIE and CompTIA Network+). After that, these are two areas I would look into:
    • Network administrator
    • Network engineer

There are very few companies that will give you chance for working as network administrator/ engineer as you are a fresher. You can apply whatever position regarding networking jobs. After getting a job, you will have experience to gain more high profile jobs.
Of course, networking field is the best for your future scope as you have specialization on the same. You can try for other, but that will depend on you.
As you have done CCNA and also have some knowledge in python/C++, it is better to opt for networking rather than programming. You don't have enough knowledge in programming languages, which is required for industry house/ real world scenario. In networking, there is very little knowledge of programming required. Now it is your decision which is better for you.
