Networking Hardware

Routers
I have a class C network that I need to subnet. That part is easy. The hardware is my problem. Each subnet is made of two segments connected by fiber via switches. What I believe I want to do is replace the switches with routers so I can connect multiple subnets and share certain resources. Are there 8 or 12 port routers available that will allow 100mb Ethernet and Fiber?

The short answer is yes.

You might want to look into some used equipment like cisco 3640’s with multiple 2 port cards.

Also look into layer 3 switches. They may also do what you need.
