    There are some claims that GandCrab up through v5.1 can be decrypted. You can only try downloading, installing and running a possible fix. That's the only way to know if it'll work for you.

    Without knowing root cause this problem can arise again. How did it happen? Is there an antivirus installed? Is it updated regularly? If yes, then how did it possible? What OS is there? Assuming this is Windows, is it updated with latest updates?

    Ransomware is tough one. In most cases there is little you can do unless you have a good backup. You can try Ravens link for a fix but there is no guarantee. What anti virus program are you using that let this through?
