Have you tried with MS office open and repair option, which works most of the time. Else if you are not expensive, u can try a free tool called, Savvy Docx Recovery. However, this does not let u 100% recovery.

I don't mean to offend, so I'll apologize in advance. This is a good reason for taking backups. I try and backup my critical documents to a thumb drive weekly. Better to have a partial file than nothing. For personal things like pictures and such on your personal devices like laptop, computer, tablet or smart phone would you be upset if you lost it all? Videos, pictures, music? I heard 2 nurses talking a while back in the hospital ER. One had dropped her phone and it broke to where she could not recover anything of it. She lost phone numbers and other things like the pictures of her child's 1st birthday.. Gone forever... If it means a lot to you I recommend backing it up. Let us know how you make out and if you found a good recovery program. There is always a chance we may still need it even if we do back up our data... (like lose your thumb drive or external HD backup)
