Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I dont know how you removed it without knowing that you did because it can only be done via editing the registry key found at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\Open Find\Places\StandardPlaces\MyComputer

You will have everything up to StandardPlaces in your HKEY Current User hive. Create the MyComputer key by copying the properties of one of the other keys like MyDocuments.

Microsoft also has some stuff on adding user defined locations which might be even more helpful over here:

Or add them into the registry key under UserDefinedPlaces

Thank you, however this method did not work. When looking in the exact location for the specific keys, none of those keys had any properties. I simply created a new key “MyComputer”. This did not solve the issue. I will look at the link you provided and update my post. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction again!

I also noticed in your answer above that you had 11.0 as the office version, and I am quite certain that applies to 2003, whereas I have 2002.

I'm aware of that, but it does not address the issue I am having. It is a file chooser issue, not a windows explorer issue. -Schmidtw
