I am going to upgrade MQseries to latest version. I don't know anything about MQ. Can somebody tell me what are the basic steps I need to follow? My machine is 9406-825 and OS is V5R4M0.
Software/Hardware used: OS v5R4M0 - server 9406-825
I know a bit "about MQ", but I have no experience installing it as a product on iSeries. Nor have I found install instructions for iSeries. I see installation info AIX, HP-UX, Linux, Solaris and Windows; but neither z/OS nor i5/OS.
Overall, I would ensure that MQ services were ended on the iSeries. This might include WAS even if that wasn't where it was in use. Then I'd run the RSTLICPGM command for the MQ LPP, and I'd simply go from there.
LPP installs/upgrades are historically straightforward. The developers of the LPP installation exit programs are responsible for anticipating even minor anomalies.
I would also want to have on hand at least the first group PTF for that release of MQ before I did the upgrade. That would be loaded/applied as my first step after the upgrade completed, assuming that any README, etc., didn't have other specific directions.
What documentation do you have available to work from?

I looked at a bunch of topics in that link before I posted. I didn't across a decent description of an iSeries MQ upgrade. Can you point out the appropriate topic?
