Hi,
I am working on to find some workaround for moving SQL Server 2005/2008 instances from one data center to another data center without changing database configuration setting at application end because application team is not sure what all places server name and database name is hardcoded. I know this is bad practice but application is developed by third party and we don't have control on application code.
So challenge here is to keep the server name and database name and IP is same.
Note: OS is not supporting for Image Backup so this option is ruled out.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Have you tried to contact the vendor? Very first, it is better to contact the 3rd party vendor, who were developed the application. They can in a better position to help you regarding this situation. Also what version of windows OS there.
Hi Subhendu, We have around 10 applications are there in this scenario. finding the application dependency and config settings are again big challenge here. Due to this we are trying to close this in above method.
10 applications, not an easy going, were the all applications developed by one vendor/various vendors. In this situation, better to ask for their help.
