I am a Data Analyst working for Mobile Service Provider doing analysis on Network Fault Complaints for Home Fibre customers. Would like to seek help on how to calculate a target number for Complaint Reduction on monthly basis. Details Below.

Average Complaints for 2018 is = 4798
Year End 2019 Target to Reduce Customers Complaint is = 6500
January 2019 Complaints is = 7299
February 2019 Complaints is = 6006
Total Subscribers on January 2019 is = 259000

With the above info, I would like to know how to calculate projected / forecast number of complaints for March'19 till Nov'19.

Kind Regards & Thank you very much.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Almost sounds like a class assignment or interview question. if you are a data analyst working for mobile service provider, this should not be a problem. Calculating averages is a simple task. Its simple addition and division. Unless you have other parameters that are not listed here.

You can think it in a simple way. you can monitor the percentage of complaints that is U chart & also the number of complaints that is C chart while assuming number of complaints/ month. If you are a learner, you need to read your study materials.

Are you simply wanting to forecast the likely number of complaints in future months? Or are you determining some "target" for efforts at reducing complaints?

You have history. Calculating trend lines from history is easy enough. You have historical ratios of complaints per subscriber, and you might assume the ratio will be the same in future months. The trend for growth(/shrinkage) of subscribers will guide any future changes in complaints.
