Missing disk unit in the configuration

Disk drives
We have a DR box with 8 disk drives that is not under maintenance which recently had 2 hard drives crash on the same raid. I replaced the two drives and reinitialized them hoping I would be able to reload the system from a full system save tape. The process appeared to be working but eventually got hung up and stayed at the same percentage for over a day. I restarted the machine at that point and now it is coming up with an error saying there is a missing disk unit in the configuration. This is a different disk than the 2 that crashed previously. I have tried just about every option on the work with disk unit recovery screen (restore disk unit data, replace configured unit, assign missing unit, recover configuration, etc.) and they all say they can’t be performed. The display disk configuration status shows 4 of my drives as being raid protected but the other 4 all show as configured with the disk in question having an * by it indicating the unit is missing from the configuration. Any ideas on how I can get this machine back up and running?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Depending on the RAID configuration that you had on the drives, having two drives fail on the same RAID is not good news. What was the RAID configuration that was implemented on the configuration?

What was the cause of the drive failures? If it was power related, like a power surge, there may be other hardware issues other than just replacing the drives.
