Microsoft Outlook emails completely disappearing from Sent inbox

Our department uses Microsoft Exchange / Outlook. And one of our users notified me a number of emails have completely disappeared from Outlook. I tried to do a search and there's nothing. We don't have any rules setup either. We're not sure what's going on here. Can someone give some tips to help us?

    You need to check the pattern for what kind of mails are missing. Are these from a single sender, or from multiple vendors but having a common subject or some common keywords. Generally, it happens if there is a ruleset to forward emails without saving. Please revisit all the rulesets thoroughly.

    Is there done any recent update? If yes, check the update history. Check file> options > mail. Anything specific in here under the sent items? If yes, correct it first or do set as default. You may also want to use the 'Recover Deleted Items' feature in Outlook. Depending on your Exchange organizations settings.
