Microsoft Outlook 2016 is not marking emails as read

Whenever I open my emails in Microsoft Outlook 2016, it's not marking them as read. Usually - it takes two or three times for it to happen. Does anyone know how to fix this? My account is on Microsoft Exchange too.

    Have you checked the Outlook settings. You may try this as, after opening outlook, click File > Options > Advanced. Under Outlook panes, click Reading Pane. Now uncheck/deselect the 'Mark items as read when viewed in the Reading Pane' and check Mark items as read when selection changes.
