Yesterday, I installed Windows 10 Pro on my laptop. After that was completed, I tried to install Office 2016 and it's still going! I'm on hour 12 I think. Why is it taking so long? Windows 10 was so quick to install.

It is possible that the windows installer service may not running during the installation process. In that case, start it first then try again the same. To start this service, press Windows key + R. Just type services.msc and press enter key. On next dialog box it opens with loads of services. Locate & right click the Windows Installer service & select Properties. Next select Automatic option in the Start type from drop-down menu. Click Start to restart the service. Next click Apply and then OK.

After the install of Win10, did you shut down and reboot your computer? Sometimes you need to do this after an install so it can look for any new updates and apply them that were not part of the install media. Are you doing the installs from CD/DVD or downloaded files?

@olafas111: Are you having the same issue, long install time or is it something else?
Check to make sure you meet the minimum requirements. The closer to the minimum the longer the install will take due to the limits of your hardware and any jobs you may have running in the background. Sometimes it's a good idea to do installs in safe mode to cut down on the number background processes.

@olafas111, what did you mean DVD? Have you tried to install MS Office 2016 through DVD? Is this properly licensed? Or you got it from different source?

    Please provide more details.
