A Microsoft word file has suddenly become an "07" one and I cannot open it or do anything else with it. How do I change it back to Microsoft, please? I have been using Libre Office software (if that's the right word!). Thank you. Regards, Bill Swanson.

Software/Hardware used:
Libre Office and/or Microsoft Windows XP

Why are you using to editors for the document? When you want to save changes, they will be in the current editors format. I have not used Libre Office, but have you tried to right-click the file then select open with and select Word as the program?

You can open this file in Wordpad, while it supports .doc file. As you are using libreoffice, & if it saved the files its default extension, then try to rename the file and copy in a The query leaves several questions! First of all what OS is there; was PDF files opened earlier; Have you upgraded any software/ systems; have you reinstalled/ repaired the OS by any meant; have you tried with any other PDF software other than adobe. For not opening PDF files, there are several causes that are responsible. Without finding out the root cause, it may not possible to provide proper reply.

Can you still open the file using the Libre Office? It may just be the file extension is the issue. If other programs like Wordpad or Notetab will not open it then you may have a virus. Run a virus scan and see what the results are.
