We have this pretty old Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that gets saved several times a day. But we've begun to notice that it gets corrupted about once a week. It has a couple of plugins and is using the latest version of Office/Excel. Why does it keep getting corrupted? Any suggestions?

If it on the same PC, I’d save the file and move it to another to see if the problem still occurs. It may be possible that you have a drive that is acting up and getting bad/damaged sectors. If the file is on a network shared drive, try limiting access. There may be an infected user causing the problem if they use/save changes to the file.

How did you save the files? Means, is there so many blank spaces in between the words, when you provide name of a file? As you mentioned, latest version, so the Excel files are saving with .xlsx format, instead of that, you can use Save As & save the file as .xls (old format & hope you can get the option when saving). After that check if it helps.

Moreover, is it possible to disable plugins for a while and then save the excel file with its normal format. If yes, you can save Excel files by disabling plugins and check if this helpful. Also if this is a shared network, be careful of virus infection. However chances are very few.
