I'm not sure how my issue happened but here it goes. I noticed that my Windows 10 laptop was getting very slow so I reset it to a clean slate. So it was fine for a few hours but then I noticed That McAfee was pre-installed and I have to renew my subscription. I wanted to get rid of all these programs. I didn't want McAfee installed. Can I just remove this and hope it won't come back?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You should be able to go to the add/remove programs and uninstall it from there as well as any other bloatware that may have come preinstalled. It can be a pain to get rid of sometimes. It may work better if you boot your computer in safe mode and then remove it at mentioned.

Any anti-virus makes slow a system due to their mechanism. If you uninstall, the system may fast, but virus threatening increases. If you don't like McAfee, you can uninstall the same, but of course you have to install a good anti virus to make sure your system is free from viruses.

Another thing to remember if you are resetting your system, either from a CD/DVD or recovery partition on your drive from the manufacturer it will reinstall all the bloatware again.

If you have doubt that some leftover files are still there of mcafee, you can use any 3rd party tool like Revo uninstaller (free to use and the free version is enough) to uninstall completely. Or you can try add/ remove program of windows on safe mode.
