    Which version of excel is there! Assuming excel 2007 or onwards, If it is true, it is needed to save file in macro-enabled format which has the suffix .xlsm instead of .xlsx format. If you are using template, there may be a problem with saving/ opening the template. Please also check it.

    Where is the macro stored and what type of macro is it? Is it needed outside of Excel? If it's just created for that Excel workbook then follow Subhendu's suggestion. Otherwise post some more info so we understand the situation better and can give a better answer.
