We are using Lotus Notes 8.5.3FP6 on a Domino server. I have a user who had a name change right when she started. The change was made throughout the system and it shows up correctly everywhere except in her notes client. The user document has the correct name listed. The change name box shows the name correctly. The id vault shows the name correctly. I've replaced her user.id file with one from the id vault, no change, I've replaced her configuration files and logged her back into Notes with the correct name and even after the new configuration the client is still showing the incorrect name.

Okay, there are probably 2 more places you need to make a change.  First, to change the name on the mail tab, open the properties box for her mail file.  You can do this by choosing File->Application->Properties, or by pressing Alt-Enter when in her mail file and changing the dropdown from Document to Database.  The first tab will have a “Title” field with her old name in it; update that.  To fix the other issue, when in her mail file, choose the “More” button and then select “Preferences.”  The first tab, first sub-tab (Mail, Basics) will have an “Owner” field; update that.

Where, specifically, is it showing in her client?  The lower-right hand corner (her location doc)?  The title of her mail file icon?  Someplace else?

It shows up as her incorrect name on the mail tab and it shows that as the sender of any emails she sends, but it also shows a sent by: her correct spelling on the email.
