Looking for easy to implement video chat system

14925 pts.
I have a client that needs to be available at two places at one time. She currently alternates days between the offices. I’m looking for a very simple video chat application that will work across the Internet and allow easy video communication between two LAN networks. The system the way they visualize it would have one icon on each computer. You start the application on each system, and it all “just works.” I'm doing this as a favor for a local school system (very small, very limited resources) I want a solution that will not end up becoming a maintenance headache for me. Simplicity is the key word here, some of the users are not that computer savvy, and some of them are more than a bit intimidated by computers. Thank You!

Try Skype! Skype is a fast emerging means of communicating across the internet. PC to PC communication is free and includes video capability. For nominal charges it is possible to call to and from regular phones through the internet.

I have used Skype to video conference with people in Europe and China. It’s easy to use, some set up is required as well as the obviouls hardware for video conferencing.

You’ll find out all you need at skype.com

Good luck.

SnapYap.com is another site that you could try out. We’re a small start-up based out of Boston, and our goal is to increase ease of use with video communication. We currently offer free, one-on-one video calling and messaging that requires no downloads. All any user needs is a webcam and an internet connection. SnapYap is a flash-based program, so it works across multiple platforms; and since video calls take place in your web browser, there is no need to update media players or install tedious software to begin using our applications. And as noted above, another bonus is that all of our services are free. You mentioned that some of these users may be intimidated by computers. SnapYap actually evolved out of a coworker's need to create a video communication tool that computer users of all levels could easily figure out and use effectively. Not sure of all your requirements, but SnapYap is definitely worth checking out if you need to find a video chat system that's easy to implement.
