We have a data center hosting our sip servers and proxies. The location is far from our main office. How can we monitor the servers and the lines?

The SIP server will (at least should) provide an interface to monitor the registered accounts, what status they are, etc…

To monitor the SIP server itself a lot of monitoring solutions exist, some with SIP monitoring available. However, its also easy to have someone write a small script that tries to connect to the SIP server and times out on failure. That can then be returned and appropriate action be taken.
