I downloaded iCloud on my Windows PC. While running it something went wrong and now all the shortcuts on my desktop are converted into a "LNK file" format. Every time I try to open it, it opens a Firefox tab and show some "binary file" message asking me to save it. But at the end all in vain. Please help me to get out of this.

What iCloud have you downloaded? Is this Google Drive/Apple iCloud or other one? However, when you installed the same, was it completed full installation. It is better to uninstall the iCloud and see if the desktop icons will be changed their earlier state. If it will Ok, again reinstall the icloud. Also is there any update have done recently.

If you check the properties of your LNK files, do they point to a valid .exe to execute? Also check to see what the default viewer is for the LNK file type.

One more thing is there any good anti-virus is installed on your system. Hope so. However, you can check for viruses with good anti-virus like MWAV (a small tool) and scan/ clean the system and make sure that is not happened by virus activities.
